The Government has opened an investigation into the review of anti-dumping measures on cutlery from China and Brazil

The Ministry of Economy, through the Resolution 402 / 2023, declared the opening of the examination appropriate, due to expiration of the term, and extended the antidumping measure on exports to Argentina of "Fixed-blade table knives, forks and spoons, of stainless steel, with wooden or plastic handles, whether or not presented in assortments"originating in China and Brazil, a measure established by Resolution No. 1767/2018.

According to the text published on Tuesday (11.04.2023/2023/56) in the Official Gazette, the request for review of the antidumping measure was submitted by the firm Cincam, Sociedad Anónima, Comercial, Industrial, Financiera, Agropecuaria e Inmobiliaria, at the end of January 1.393, before the Undersecretariat of Commercial Policy and Management (SSPyGC), within the framework of article 08 of Decree No. XNUMX/XNUMX.

The resolution explained that according to the documents presented in this stage of the investigation, the National Commission for Foreign Trade considered that there are sufficient elements to conclude that, from the point of view of the probability of repetition of the damage, the opening of the investigation is appropriate. case review.

That Commission resolved “keep the anti-dumping measure in force applied in 2018, until the review procedure initiated is concluded, in the form of an ad valorem antidumping duty of 48% for China; of 5,37% for the exporting firm Tramontina SA Cutelaria of Brazil and 47,19% for the rest of Brazil(excluding the Brazilian exporting firm Metalúrgica Simonaggio Ltda from the measure).

The measure aims to prevent the damage determined in due time to the national production sector from being exacerbated, thus guaranteeing the protection of the industry and its sources of work, until the review investigation is concluded.

«This instrument (Dumping Review) is available to all Argentine companies that consider that imports of the products they manufacture are entering our country at prices and quantities such that they are damaging their industry," the Ministry of Economy announced.
