Customs chief donated seized merchandise to Formosa and visited operational control points

The Director General of Customs, Guillermo Michel, signed together with the governor of Formosa, Gildo Insfrán, a delivery of donations, seized by the agency and valued at more than $22.470.850 million, according to official reports.

In an event held today (12.04.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) in the provincial capital, the head of Customs said that "during his administration, he has made a commitment to ensure that the infringing merchandise seized by the national State is returned to society in a beneficial manner, forming a virtuous cycle."

On this occasion, the agreed delivery consisted of 75 m3 of clothing and footwear, underwear, sheets, towels and, especially, medical supplies such as otoscopes, oximeters and thermometers.

In 2022 and so far in 2023, donations valued at more than $129.964.000 were delivered to the Government of Formosa, municipalities and other entities in the province. The goods consisted of grains, fuel, food, household items, electronics, household appliances and clothing.

Areas of control 

In this context, Michel visited the Customs control area in the San Ignacio Loyola International Bridge to assess the operating conditions of the site. This infrastructure, located on the Pilcomayo River, links the city of Clorinda (Formosa) with that of José Falcón, (Paraguay). There, Michel attended a cargo inspection through non-intrusive control with a scanner.

The director then took a tour of the Friendship Catwalk, a pedestrian border crossing, located on the southern branch of the Pilcomayo River and connecting Clorinda in Argentina with Puerto Elsa, in Paraguay.

Additionally, he visited the reservation of Pilcomayo Port, where controls are carried out on rafts dedicated to tourism and cargo.

Finally, the official observed the operation to carry out verification actions at the Buenos Aires Fiscal Warehouse (Defiba).
