The Central American Customs Committee, made up of the General Directors of Customs of the Region, held this Thursday (21.04.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX) the second meeting of the year, to standardize efforts related to regional integration and trade facilitation, reported the Secretariat of Central American Economic Integration (SIECA).
This meeting was chaired by the National Customs Authority of Panama who is in charge of the Pro Tempore Presidency of SIECA.
Specifically, the meeting addressed the situation of Costa Rica's computer systems in order to review the Regional Contingency Plan and establish additional mechanisms to ensure the fluidity of commercial operations.
Members also discussed aspects of the Global Trade Facilitation Programme, the results report and the progress of work carried out by the Technical Regulatory Group and the Technical Information Group.
María Ortiz Bolivar, Manager of the SECO-OMA Global Program, also referred to the Financial Technical Assistance Program of the World Customs Organization, to strengthen the capacities of customs administrations in the region.
Finally, representatives of the National Customs Authority of Panama presented the results of the multimodal transit and rectification procedures of the Central American Single Declaration for trade in goods originating in the region (DUCA-F), the report of the Technical Risk Management Group and the progress achieved to date of the Authorized Economic Operator Program in this country.
