At the Chungará Integrated Complex, Chilean Customs and Carabineros of OS7 found a truck with 208 kilos 767 grams of Creepy-type Marijuana that came from Bolivia and was destined for the neighboring country.
Regarding such operation, the Regional Director (s) of the Arica Customs, James Alarcón Contreras, explained that it responds to the work methodologies that the inspection teams have, “especially based on the risk profiles and new modus operandi. In this case, he clarified that it was a truck that was entering Chile without a load, so it was first subjected to a documentary review and then to an in-depth physical inspection, managing to find the drug that was meticulously hidden.”
Alarcón highlighted the joint work with Carabineros and the prosecutor's office, since the response protocols were immediately activated that allowed the arrest of those involved and the beginning of the respective investigation.
According to Acting Prefect, Colonel Juan Carlos Pérez SudzukiThe events took place during the early hours of today, in the Border Complex sector, where the driver of the machine, a Bolivian citizen, was inspected, who was entering our country, transporting the drug hidden in a false bottom of the truck.
During the inspection, Customs personnel detected anomalies in the structure of the vehicle, so it was transferred to the port facilities where, together with Carabineros from the specialized section of OS7, they determined through a review with the scanner truck and a drug-detecting dog the presence of drugs on the walls of the trailer.
Thus, they were found in total 185 packs of different shapes and containers of high quality Creepy type Marijuana. The tractor-trailer was also seized and the foreign driver was arrested for prosecution for the crime of drug trafficking.

For his part, Presidential Delegate Ricardo Sanzana He pointed out: "When we talk about institutions being coordinated, we are referring to these actions, procedures that account for removing criminal gangs from circulation, as we have been doing in the Council Against Organized Crime and which seeks, precisely this, to stop with determination, coordination and management so that crime, drug trafficking, among other incivilities, cannot operate in our region. For this reason, we highlight the work of Customs and Carabineros, who, with the resources we have, such as the scanner truck, managed to remove more than 200 kilos of marijuana from circulation," he stressed.
The Chungará border complex is located 202 kilometers east of Arica.
