Chile: Customs certified 14 new companies as Authorized Economic Operators

In the framework of the International Customs Day, Chile publicly formalized the certification as an Authorized Economic Operator, AEO, of 10 customs agents and 4 importing and exporting companies that during the course of 2021 they demonstrated compliance with all the requirements that guarantee a safe foreign trade operation.

Considering this, the National Director of the Customs Service, José Ignacio Palma gave strong statements. “Our Service is very committed to the OAS program because we are convinced that the voluntary compliance of the customs regulations in a proactive manner by operators It will allow us to move forward more strongly towards an increasingly agile, efficient and secure logistics chain." the customs authority said. 

Furthermore, the National Director of Customs pointed out that “the advancement of Mutual Recognition Agreements, ARM, with other countries around the world are also a focus of relevant work since certified companies are required to obtain the greatest benefits from their accreditation in order to motivate others to join this program” and announced the upcoming signing, during 2022, of the mutual recognition of OAS programs of countries in the Americas and the Caribbean.

The activity recognized the efforts of both the companies and the OEA team, who had to prove the safety of the processes despite the restrictions of the pandemic.

The importing and exporting companies that achieved OEA accreditation are: Salmones Camanchaca SA; Merck Sharp & Dohmne; Maestranza Diesel SA and Liebherr Chile SPA. Meanwhile, the certified Customs agents are Ana de Lourdes Muñoz Muñoz; Hernan Santibañez Ruiz; Ricardo Mewes Schnaidt; Marlene Mewes Schnaidt; Juan Leon Valenzuela; Jorge Moya Damilano; Jorge Moya Mancilla; Carlo Rossi Soffia; Felipe Espinosa Rojas and Gonzalo Espinosa Rojas.  

Camanchaca SA Corporate Manager, Mario Aguilera, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the certified companies, indicating that today they are a different company than they were before the certification. “Today we have a security policy, a risk matrix to analyze the possible dangers that may exist in our foreign trade chain; our documentary processes were all reviewed to see what the real security was in how we were working in our facilities, and we discovered a number of weaknesses that we were able to remove.”

With these new certified companies, There are 33 operators accredited as Authorized Economic Operators by Chilean Customs.
