The Council of Ministers of Economic Integration (COMIECO) of Central America met last Wednesday (28.06.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX) in Panama, in order to continue with the coordination, harmonization, convergence or unification of the economic policies of the countries of the region, SIECA reported.
According to the technical-administrative body, the Ministers with competence in economic integration approved nine (9) resolutions, including a new Regulation of Operation of the Councils of the Central American Economic Subsystem, tariff issues, a new Technical Regulation (RTCA) on the labelling of cosmetic products and the adherence of the Republic of Panama to regional regulations on sanitary and phytosanitary measures and food, in compliance with the commitments contained in the Protocol for the Incorporation of said country into said Economic Subsystem.
Likewise, SIECA reported that "COMIECO approved Pillar 2 of the Regional Economic Recovery Planl, an initiative that contains important measures regarding trade facilitation and cross-border operations.” He explained that the decision seeks to promote the revitalization of Central American economies through regional actions.
The COMIECO Presidency rotates between countries on a semi-annual basis. Thus, José Rosales, Minister of Economy of Guatemala, received from the head of Commerce and Industry of Panama, Federico Alfaro Boyd, the Pro Tempore political and legal representation for the next months of 2022.
