AFIP sets changes in the import transit registry

The Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) has issued General Resolution 4978/2021 through which it proceeded to modify Resolution 285 referring to the Land Transit Import Registry.

The new Resolution, published this Wednesday (28.04.2021/XNUMX/XNUMX) says in its recitals "That, taking into account the experience gained in the use of said simplified registry and in order to specify the scope of the aforementioned rules and the procedures applicable to the different operators, It is necessary to modify General Resolutions No. 285 and its amendment and No. 2.889, its amendments and supplements, in order to exempt from the procedures provided therein the Detailed Declarations of Transit (TR) and Monitored Customs Transit of Importation (TRM) controlled through the use of the Electronic Seal of Customs Monitoring (PEMA) and registered through the use of the "AFIP Code".

Accordingly, it is resolved that the The General Directorate of Customs, an agency that is part of the AFIP, may establish those transits of particular imports declared with certain AFIP Codes, that will be subject a the mandatory use of the Electronic Customs Monitoring Seal (PEMA) and whose implementation will be governed by the schedule which will be available on the “Customs Transit Security Initiative” microsite https://www.afip.gob.ar/ista/”.

On the other hand, the competent authority in the application of the legislation that regulates customs clearance, may determine exceptions to the use of the Electronic Customs Monitoring Seal (PEMA) and authorize the transfer of merchandise with customs custody, individually or combined with the use of the Electronic Customs Monitoring Seal (PEMA).

This measure will enter into force Effective April 29, 2021 and will be applied according to the implementation schedule that will be available on the “Customs Transit Security Initiative” microsite (https://www.afip.gob.ar/ista/).
