Brazil reports logistics delays on border with Paraguay

-

Soybean shipments have faced logistical delays when crossing the Paraguayan border with Brazil in recent days. The low flow of the Paraná River is limiting the exit of this merchandise by barge at the border of the cities of Guairá, on the Paraguayan side, and Guaíra, on the Brazilian side. For this reason, the products are sent to Brazil by land.

Faced with such difficulties, the Customs of the Federal Revenue of Brazil in Mundo Novo, a Brazilian municipality in the state of Mato Grosso, clarified that the measures have been taken measures necessary to speed up the queue of trucks.

"It is important to highlight that the current flow corresponds to approximately five times the daily processing capacity of the Mundo Novo Customs," says the release.

The text states that "this sudden increase was due to the reduction in the level of the Paraná River, causing the diversion of the flow of vehicles that normally crossed the river by ferry, whose load was released by the Guaíra Customs in Paraná."

Official information adds that  Customs has strengthened the team in charge of customs clearance of goodsHowever, it should be noted that a large part of the vehicles are waiting for the documentation that the dispatchers must present, necessary for the release of the cargo.

Once delivered (in batches), the customs clearance time for each batch is one and a half hours, on average, with this abrupt and unexpected increase in movement. Dialogue with these dispatchers has been intensified to help them simplify their procedures., without which the IRS cannot act.

On the other hand, under Customs custody, seized vehicles are also being relocated, in order to leave more space available in the yard for trucks to carry their cargo, as a way to reduce queues at the border.

“Considering these measures, in addition to the reinforcement of the inspection team, the freeing up of space for vehicles and the dialogue with dispatchers, the reduction of queues will occur very soon with the return of normal activities,” the statement concludes.
