The customs authorities of Panama and Belgium strengthened their collaboration in the fight against customs violations, through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on Thursday (12.10.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX), in the Panamanian capital.
The official statement noted that the instrument promotes the principles of collaboration between customs, provided for and established by the World Customs Organization (WCO).
The document was signed by the Director General of the National Customs Authority of Panama, Tayra Barsallo, and her counterpart from the General Administration of Customs and Taxes of Belgium, Kristian Vanderwaeren.
The parties agreed to "improve and enhance their collaboration regarding the prevention, investigation and fight against customs violations and to ensure the security of the international supply chain," according to the note from the National Customs Authority of Panama.
After the event, the technical teams of both delegations established a action plan which includes measures related to risk analysis, training, information exchange, among others.
Thus, The document will remain valid for a period of three years., a period that could be modified by mutual consent or terminated by written notice three months in advance, according to the official statement.
