Argentina made the first shipment of beef to Mexico

-

After ten years of negotiations, the first shipment of Argentine beef left Ezeiza Airport on Tuesday (21.03.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) on an Aeroméxico flight, the National Service for Food Safety and Quality (Senasa) reported in a statement.

The cargo consisted of a ton of different cuts of beef from the Argentine establishment “Arrebeef”, one of the 22 authorized to export to that destination, the health agency specified.

Present during the preparation of the shipment were the Vice President of Senasa, Rodolfo Acerbi, the Head of the Chancellery of the Mexican Embassy in Argentina, Gabriel Terrés, and the President of Arrebeef, Hugo Borrel.

The Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Juan José Bahillo, said that "the opening of Mexico for Argentine beef is a reaffirmation of the quality and safety of our food and support for our production system that stands out for its sustainability and efficiency.”

Negotiation

Mexico opened its market to Argentine beef on November 11, 2022, which was the conclusion of a negotiation that lasted more than ten years.

In July of that year, a delegation from the National Service of Health, Safety and Agri-Food Quality (Senasica) of Mexico had carried out an exhaustive audit visit to Argentina's beef production and processing system.

The final step was the agreement between both health services of the requirements of the certificate that supports exports, signed last December, thus concluding a negotiation process initiated in 2012.
