The Argentine government has spent the last two days preparing, from the Moroccan city of Marrakech, the XI Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which will take place from December 10 to 13, 2017 in the city of Buenos Aires.
"Preparatory meeting in Morocco for the XI Conference," the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The hearings, chaired by the Minister of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy of Morocco, Moulay Hafid El-Alami and co-chaired by the former Argentine Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra, president of the event, were attended by 37 Ministers of Trade.
Representatives of those 37 countries have pledged to attend the WTO Ministerial Conference, discussed the elimination of fishing subsidies, a possible reform of agricultural trade, and the services sector, among other issues.
At the WTO ministerial meeting, "special attention" should also be paid to the relevance of small and medium-sized enterprises and "the promotion and facilitation of foreign investments and digital trade".
The Director General of the WTO, Roberto Azevedo, also participated in the meetings, and the Argentine delegation was represented by the Minister of Production, Francisco Cabrera, and the Secretary of International Economic Relations, Horacio Reyser.
