The National Customs Directorate of Paraguay reported that the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Paraguay, Joseph Salazar, declared the commitment of your country to help and technically assist the institution in the process of purchasing and implementing scanners for merchandise controls.
According to the statement, the head of Customs, Julio Fernández and Joseph Salazar held a meeting on Wednesday (30.11.2021/XNUMX/XNUMX) where they analyzed the need for all international trade in Paraguay to be carried out safely.
At the meeting, Salazar promised to help and technically assist Paraguay in obtaining the appropriate amount of equipment so that all containers are subject to control, and to train officials in their use.
"Initially, the Customs budget contemplated the purchase of two scanners next year, but unfortunately the budget was cut by the legislature," said Julio Fernández.
During the meeting, the authorities also discussed the possibility of cooperation with the Internal Affairs Department on matters of integrity and transparency.
