The National Customs Directorate of Uruguay announced this Tuesday (12.09.2023/2/XNUMX) the beginning of the process to install three scanners and a Non-Intrusive X-Ray Inspection service at the Port of Montevideo. The installation will be carried out by the company awarded the tender, SXNUMX Global IN.
The activity was headed by the National Director of Customs, Jaime Borgiani, who was accompanied by the Undersecretary of Economy and Finance, Alejandro Irastorza; the Vice President of the National Port Administration (ANP), Daniel Loureiro, and the National Naval Prefect, José Luis Elizondo.
In statements to the press, Jaime Borgiani He reported that the new container scanners will be located: two, at the northern entrance and the remaining one (a transportable device), at the Maciel entrance. According to Customs, there are more than a million of these containers at the port terminal, of which 80% are in transit.
