SIECA coordinated a visit to the El Amatillo Border Post (on the El Salvador side), in Monitoring the Deep Integration process Towards the Free Transit of Goods and Natural Persons between the Republics of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.
According to the technical body's statement today (13.09.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX), the meeting was attended by important authorities such as María Luisa Hayem, Minister of Economy of El Salvador; Fredis Cerrato, Secretary of Economic Development of Honduras; Héctor Celarié, Ambassador of the Republic of El Salvador in Honduras; Geraldine Guth, Executive Director of SIECA and Mario Salazar, Chief of Staff of SIECA.
Key entities from both countries also participated, such as customs, migration and sanitary and phytosanitary measures, which support and are a fundamental part of the process.
During the visit, the SIECA presented the progress achieved to date in the consolidation of the deep integration process. The work in progress to achieve the integration of the important Border Post was highlighted, which will allow for the speeding up of the passage of goods and people between both countries.
It is estimated that once integrated under the deep integration scheme, The El Amatillo Border Post could carry out up to 15,000 annual operations of the Central American Single Invoice and Declaration (FYDUCA), a key document for the materialization of the Customs Union.
To this end, SIECA and the relevant authorities of each country are working on the planned adjustments to the El Amatillo Border Post.
It is recalled that the El Amatillo border post between El Salvador and Honduras is of great importance both bilaterally and regionally in terms of cargo transportation, as it is the main land route used for trade between El Salvador and Honduras. In addition, it is a highly demanded crossing for bilateral trade between El Salvador and Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama and for trade between Mexico and Guatemala and Honduras.
The statement said the visit also served to present progress in the implementation of the Advance Declaration by the customs services of El Salvador and Honduras.
