An important coordination meeting was held by the Talcahuano Regional Customs Office with the company OTC-OTA (Trans-Andean Oil Pipeline) and the Argentine Customs, on the occasion of the upcoming start of maintenance and enabling of the fuel pipeline that links the Biobío Region (Chile) with the Province of Neuquén (Argentina).

This was reported on Friday (05.08.2022/2023/XNUMX) by the Chilean National Customs Service in a statement where it said that "This work meeting is part of the fine-tuning process to meet the objective of starting the shipment of fuel, through the Buta Mallín Pass, in the Province of Biobío, starting in the first quarter of XNUMX."

"This pipeline has not been operated since 2006," the statement said.

Inspection and repair work, if necessary, is expected to begin during the second half of this year for future import and transit operations of this product.

"Due to the strategic nature of this initiative for both countries and its characteristics, it is very important for our Service to be present at each stage where it is responsible for supervising and facilitating the customs aspects of the operation," explained the Director of the Talcahuano Regional Customs Office, Claudio Cid.

According to the company, tests will begin in August with water, which will be delivered to the Enap Refinery for treatment and final disposal.

At the meeting, it was agreed to work in a coordinated manner between Customs and the Trans-Andean Pipeline Company for the transport of the different materials necessary for this project, always in accordance with the current regulations for this type of products, which corresponds to the operation of liquid bulk.

"Due to the importance of this project for both countries, regular meetings will continue to be held between all the institutions and organizations involved in this project, in addition to coordinating on-site visits," said the Chilean National Customs Service.
