Uruguay works to market software in China

The acting president of Uruguay, Lucía Tololansky, stressed on Tuesday (25) the intention to carry out new exports to China, particularly of software and products for SMEs, to complement sales of meat, soybeans, wood and cellulose.

"It is not just about meat, soy, wood or cellulose, but there may be room for with or SMEs, through electronic commerce”, Toplansky pointed out. He also advocated for to establish an agreement with the participation of the Post Office to transport handmade leather bags: “If they are sold in a short time, for the Uruguayan artisan, making those sales will be important"He remarked.

According to the statement, he pointed out that other meetings will probably take place before Uruguay hands over the temporary presidency of Mercosur. “China is our main trading partner, and that alone makes it worthwhile,” he said.

Mercosur and China, next meeting

The meeting between Vice-Chancellors of Mercosur with their Chinese counterpart, which will take place on October 18 in Montevideo, will facilitate the continuity of the issues discussed by the presidents of the bloc at the United Nations, explained the vice president of Uruguay.

Finally, he announced that the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining, Carolina Cosse, will be the next authority to travel to China. “The State builds the roads, and private companies must travel on them to take advantage of the opportunities. These mechanisms must be created, and we must work towards that,” he concluded.
