Uruguay approves agreements with Belgium, Vietnam and Azerbaijan

Uruguay approved the agreements that avoid double taxation in tax matters on income and assets, and prevents tax evasion, with Belgium and with Vietnam signed in Montevideo in August and December 2013, respectively.               

According to the approved texts, they are considered income and wealth taxes "those that tax all income or capital, including taxes on profits derived from the alienation of movable or immovable property."

In addition, of the taxes on wages or salaries paid by companies and capital gains taxes, stated the Presidency of Uruguay.

In Uruguay, these taxes relate to personal income (IRPF), economic activities (IRASE), non-resident income (IRNR), social security assistance (IASS) and assets.

The same was also approved Agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters signed with the Republic of Azerbaijan, signed in June 2014.

According to the document, customs administrations “will cooperate and assist each other in the prevention, investigation and fight against violations of customs legislation.” The assistance determined by the agreement “will be provided in accordance with national legislation and within the competence and resources of the Customs Administrations.”
