Within the framework of the deep integration process of the Northern Triangle countries, the Customs Superintendent of Guatemala, Werner Ovalle, and the General Director of Customs of El Salvador, Samadhy Martínez, visited the Corinto Integrated Border Post (located in Honduran territory) last Thursday (09.06.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX) to strengthen trade facilitation mechanisms and coordinated border management.
The meeting was attended by Duayner Salas Chaverri (Chief of Staff) and Geraldine Guth (Executive Director) representing the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA), as well as the Vice Minister of Integration and Foreign Trade of Guatemala, María Luisa Flores.
SIECA reported that the agenda of the meeting This led to an exchange of experiences and good practices in customs operations, and a tour of the facilities of the Maritime Customs of Puerto Barrios and Santo Tomás de Castilla, where statistical information was shared on the volume of operations handled in these places, as well as their destinations.
The visit concluded at the COMBEX-IM Temporary Customs Warehouse – at La Aurora International Airport – where experiences were shared regarding the dispatch of deliveries in Courier mode and the growth of electronic commerce.
With this joint action, the process of deep integration between Guatemala and Honduras - to which El Salvador has formally joined - continues to advance, so that the free circulation of goods can take place and trade can be facilitated.
