Singaporean health authorities have approved the unified international veterinary certificate for the entry of boneless and chilled beef (bovine and ovine) from Argentina's foot-and-mouth disease-free zones, with and without vaccination, the Argentine ambassador to that country, Federico Barttfeld, confirmed on Monday (04.12.2017).
This achievement, which expands the possibilities for exporters and broadens business opportunities in other regions of the country, was the result of the work of the Argentine Embassy in that Asian country, together with the Ministry of Agroindustry, the National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (Senasa), and the Argentine Agency for Investment and International Trade (AAICI).
"This is one more of all the advances we are having in our plan for intelligent integration with the world.", said the chancellor Jorge Faurie, while considering that "The Asian market is a key horizon, and Singapore, in this sense, is one of the most favorable economies from our concept of commercial integration."
Etchevehere highlighted the work carried out by the participating organisations, health, market and trade entities that held bilateral meetings in recent months to achieve this new agreement.
Until today, Singapore only allowed the purchase of boneless meat from our country, and only accepted bone-in meat produced in Patagonia. In this way, New opportunities are opening up for more producers of beef, goat and sheep meat from other regions.
The announcement was made during a business trip by Argentine businessmen who visited Singapore with the aim of increasing sales of Argentine products to the Asian country.
Singapore is a net importer of food and, according to a report published by the World Economic Forum in 2016, is the most open and trade-friendly economy in the world, as the vast majority of products it imports are exempt from tariffs.
