The regime for importing historic and collector vehicles has been simplified.

-

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has formalized a new scheme for the importation of used vehicles considered "collector models" or of historical interest. Through the Resolution 300 / 2025, published today (30.07) in the Official Gazette, updates the current regime with the dual purpose of preserving automotive cultural heritage and facilitating procedures for those wishing to import this type of goods.

A special regime

The importation of used cars in Argentina is restricted by the Decree 110 / 1999, which, as a general rule, prohibits their nationalization, except for expressly provided exceptions. One of them contemplates vehicles with more than 30 years old or with a FOB value not less than USD 12.000, being considered of historical and cultural interest to the Nation.

In this framework, Resolution 24 / 2025 had established a specific procedure to manage these imports. However, its implementation revealed the need for adjustments. The new Resolution 300 / 2025 introduces improvements aimed at shortening deadlines, clarifying technical and documentary requirements, and strengthening coordination with intervening agencies, such as the General Directorate of Customs and the Customs Collection and Control Agency (ARCA).

major developments

Among the most notable modifications are:

  • Mandatory digital presentationApplications must be processed exclusively through the Remote Procedures platform. (TAD), accompanied by the corresponding form and the documentation required in the new Annex I.
  • Defined deadlines and more agile procedures. The Directorate of Industrial Evaluation and Promotion will have 10 consecutive days to evaluate the submissions. If additional documentation is required, the interested party will have 10 working days to complete it. Failure to respond will be interpreted as withdrawal from the procedure.
  • Integration with CustomsOnce the requirements have been met, the Secretariat will communicate the import authorization to the General Directorate of Customs through the system VUCEA and its automatic validation in the Malvina Computer System (SIM), thus optimizing traceability and process control.
  • Validity of authorizationsThe authorizations granted will be valid for one year from its notification. After this period, the rights will be automatically extinguished.
  • Prohibition of alienationVehicles imported under this regime may not be sold, assigned or transferred for a period of two years from its customs clearance.
  • Redirection of ongoing procedures.Applications initiated under Resolutions 958/2023 and 24/2025 that have not yet been resolved will be considered included in the new regime and must be evaluated within a period of 20 consecutive days since the entry into force of this measure.

Also I know repeal articles and annexes which had become outdated, and the current technical and documentary requirements are consolidated in a single annex.

Resolution 300/2025 will enter into force effective July 31, 2025, the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
