The Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA) reported this Thursday (28.04.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX) that the implementation of an alternative computer mechanism managed to ensure the flow of import and export of goods in the region during the week.

This is because the system called Information Technology for Customs Control (TICA) is still affected after the cyber attack suffered by the Ministry of Finance of Costa Rica in the early hours of April 18.

The statement noted that, as of Thursday, April 28, 2022, 3,989 operations were processed and 4,408 new DUCA-T were registered, through the DUCA-T management system provided by SIECA.

The regional technical body worked with the customs systems of Costa Rica and other Central American countries to establish alternative computer mechanisms. This, with the objective of ensuring the interoperability of systems between government institutions, through the electronic transmission of DUCA-F and DUCA-T from Costa Rica to other countries and thus ensuring that trade flows are not affected in the region.

The DUCA-F platform contains records of intraregional trade managed under this form, and DUCA-T includes operations under the international land transit regime in accordance with current Central American regulations, according to official information.

“On Monday, April 25, 2022, SIECA completed the alternate computer work for the electronic transmission of the DUCA-F for exports from Costa Rica to Central America. On April 26, it was placed in a test environment so that Costa Rican officials could carry out the corresponding validations prior to going into production. This Thursday, April 28, the General Directorate of Customs of Costa Rica reported that they will adopt the use of DUCA-F created by SIECA,” according to the official information released.

SIECA is the technical and administrative body of the Central American economic integration process, which works hard with the governments of the region, in order to achieve the economic union of Costa Rica, The Savior, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.
