In the framework of the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the National Gendarmerie, the National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (Senasa) received a medal and a certificate of recognition for its collaboration and for the work carried out in the different border checkpoints with Squadron 33 of San Martin de los Andes.

The recognition was received by the institutional coordinator of the Patagonian Zoophytosanitary Barrier from Senasa, Marcelo Roberto, who explained that “the recognition was made for the constant support of Senasa with the National Gendarmerie and that it is extended to the entire work team. It was an honor to represent the Organization at this event.”
“It is coming working together to Incorporate GIS barrier for use by the squad. For this purpose, Senasa will provide training to the security force agents. We also agreed to continue working together on the border controls”said the official.
The controls carried out by Senasa aimed at protect health of consumers, protecting responsible producers and safeguarding animal and plant health in the Patagonian region are reinforced thanks to the coordination with other State agencies, specifically with the National Gendarmerie.
In this way, "criteria are combined and the focus is on maintaining the health of the population, including tasks of prevention "on the one hand, and on the other in the control of food-borne diseases known as ETA and zoonoses, diseases transmitted by animals to people," said Roberto.
The sum of effort, commitment and integrated work results in the effectiveness of the controls that are the responsibility of the State, starting with the care of the health status, consumer protection and the detection of informal actors that threaten these essential aspects of the Patagonian economy, which we must all take care of.

The event, which took place in the events hall of the Municipality, was headed by the Mayor of San Martin de los Andes, Brunilda Rebolledo. Representatives of security agencies and the Municipality, National Parks, Federal and Airport Police and the Prefecture also participated.
