Import quotas for ozone-depleting substances are redistributed

The Argentine Republic is a party to the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer - ratified on January 18, 1990 - and the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer - ratified on September 18, 1990 - respectively.

According to these regulations, deadlines, limits and restrictions are established for the manufacture, marketing and consumption of controlled substances. Consumption is understood as the sum of production plus imports minus exports of controlled substances, within a calendar year.

To this end, the Resolution 264 / 2021 of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, As the enforcement authority, it determines the distribution of quotas for the importation of each controlled substance, with said quotas referring to both import and production quotas, which are two of the variables that make up “consumption”.

Thus, this Resolution iIndicates that The redistribution of import quotas for substances is taking place that deplete the ozone layer, according to the Annex (IF-2021-73686833-APN-DNCC#MAD) and which is part of this Resolution.

This Resolution shall enter into force on 1 2021 October.
