The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay reported on Sunday (11.02.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) lthe elimination of the charge for the telecommunications service of "roaming" Starting next February 22nd.
The measure will be implemented within the framework of the “Agreement for the elimination of international roaming charges for end users of Mercosur”, following the deposit of the second instrument of ratification by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay, Víctor Verdún.
The official report of the Paraguayan institution details that the objective of the aforementioned agreement, signed in 2019 by all the States Parties to MERCOSUR, is to establish the guidelines for the international roaming service between telecommunications providers that provide mobile telephony, messaging and mobile data services in the States Parties to the regional bloc.
In this regard, the agreement provides that providers will apply to users who use the roaming service in the territory of another State Party, the following: same rates as planned for mobile services in their own country, according to the modality and plan contracted by each user.
It is worth remembering that such a proposal was developed as part of the Working Subgroup No. 1 “Communications” and the Common Market Group of MERCOSUR, and meets one of the objectives established in the Action Plan of the Digital Agenda Group of the bloc (GAD).
