The trade of an illegal product was detected on digital platforms

The National Service of Health and Agri-Food Quality (Senasa) through its Program of Inspection and Monitoring in Digital Media, detected the illegal sale of a product called fifth-generation quaternary ammonium advertised to combat COVID-19 and which was neither approved nor registered.

Following this situation, Senasa sent the file worked on by the Directorate of Legal Affairs and the Coordination of Packaging and Related Products notifying the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (Anmat), and in a joint effort the product in question was prohibited by means of the Provision No. 830/2020

Notably The Umbrella Corporation does not exist as such, but was dedicated to fractioning the product using a logo in which it stated that it was used to combat COVID-19, that it helped NGOs and that it was approved by Senasa.

Rosina Leicht Ziegler, in charge of the Program explained that "The original product that was approved by Senasa from the firm Sutley SRL, was suitable for cleaning surfaces in food processing establishments."

"Because Anmat also registers quaternary ammonium compounds for sanitary use or for cleaning hospitals or classrooms, the file initiated by Senasa was sent so that they could issue a statement in light of the serious situation," said the person in charge of the Program.

The action is the result of a joint effort, in this case with Anmat, whose main objective is to protect the health of consumers who may purchase illegal products that are not registered for use.
