The Superintendency of Tax Administration (SAT) began this Wednesday (11.11.2020) the operations at the Combex-Im Temporary Depot Monitoring Centrelocated in La Aurora International Airport, in Guatemala City.
So, "SAT Customs personnel, the National Civil Police (PNC) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food of the Republic (MAGA) of Guatemala, They will have control at the Monitoring Center in the Combex-Im Temporary Warehouse, in line with the SAT Superintendence Resolution DSI 817-2018 linked to non-intrusive controls," indicates the statement from the entity in charge of tax collection in Guatemala.
Control will be carried out with non-intrusive recognition technologyThis refers to technological equipment or X-ray or gamma ray machines that allow the examination of cargo without the need to unload the merchandise from the means of transport.
This action is part of the Comprehensive Customs Modernization Program (MIAD) in terms of technology and the fight against fraud and smuggling. It takes place within the framework of the Coordination Agreement for the use of non-intrusive equipment, as part of the joint inspections established within the SAFE Framework of the World Customs Organization (WCO) that seeks to reinforce risk management, strengthening the facilitation of international trade.
The opening ceremony was chaired by the Superintendent of Tax Administration, Marco Livio Díaz Reyes; the Superintendent of Customs, Werner Ovalle; the Executive Director of Combex-IM, Jorge Gómez; accompanied by Customs personnel from SAT, the General Subdirectorate of Anti-Narcotics Information Analysis of the National Civil Police (SGAIA) and the Division of Border Ports and Airports (DIPAFRONT).
This cooperation between Customs and other agencies involved in international trade enables governments to respond effectively to the challenges posed by security in the logistics chain.
