Both Britain and the United States have repeatedly spoken of the prospects for a deal, but the US presidential election on November 3, which could see a change in administration, has added uncertainty.
«We believe we are in a good position to move forward after the US elections."the official text said. It clarified that a programme for future talks had been agreed, but did not give a date.
The statement notes that Almost all chapters of the agreement are at an advanced stage. and that a significant proportion of the legal text has been agreed in several chapters.
The latest round focused on discussions on market access for goods, including negotiations on product-specific rules of origin, which determine whether or not a product can benefit from preferential tariffs.
