The government will order a reduction in the period for temporary imports, a greater number of goods with non-automatic licenses and a review of the contracting of services abroad, official sources announced today.

The measures, which will be announced this week, include the inclusion in the list of Non-automatic import licenses for 34 items among which are counted helicopters, sailboats, slot machines, whiskey, plates for mining cryptocurrencies, among others.

Currently, 72% of imports have non-automatic import licenses, and with this change, this figure will be reduced to 62%, the sources said.

Also They will reduce the deadline for temporary import licenses, which includes goods that are acquired abroad for the final production of articles that will later be exported.

The current period is 360 days, which may be extended for a similar period. Following the amendment, the initial period will be 120 days, with a maximum of 240 days.

Between January and July of this year, US$3.100 billion in goods entered through this system, of which US$1.600 billion were soybeans, which are mostly imported from Paraguay for industrialization in the country.

In addition, companies must request a permit before carrying out this type of import from the Ministry of Commerce and the AFIP, which will be the agencies in charge of determining the capacity of these companies to carry out the task they want to perform with this good that is imported temporarily.
