The Ministry of Transport of the Nation, through the General Administration of Ports (AGP), has completed the 2017 Academic Cycle of the Port Training Program “Train For Trade” of the United Nations Organization (UN).
This is the first program of its kind to be developed in our country. Administrative and professional staff of the Port of Buenos Aires, terminals and unions were trained to consolidate work policies that enhance the functioning of the sector.
The training program, which was attended by 25 port representatives, consisted of training courses, a special cycle of Modern Port Management, cooperation work between ports in the region and organizations associated with the UN, and assistance and advice to port communities with the aim of Strengthening the public-private sector of the Port.
The training, which also included the Assistance from port authorities of Gijón and Valencia, was held at the Port Training Center (CENCAPOR) of the Port of Buenos Aires from November 2016 to December 2017. Last week, the defense of the work done during the training was held and the participants received their certificates last Friday.
“I found it to be a very interesting course because it is of international level and because it provides a wide range of port knowledge that is essential for today's management. It really is highly recommended for the future of the port sector.” Ulysses Galanis, participant of the UNCTAD program.
The next step in federal port training will be the Master's Degree in Logistics and Port Management, which aims to address both conceptual and practical knowledge that will allow students to acquire the necessary skills to develop management functions in the field of logistics and port management. It is the most prestigious international postgraduate degree aimed at professionals in the maritime, logistics and port sector, and has the university endorsement of the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
“We must incorporate knowledge from those who know the most about the global port industry so that our sector can continue to grow. We want our port team to be continuously trained in order to invest in the future of the port for all Argentines.", Gonzalo Mórtola, Comptroller of the General Administration of Ports SE
