The Chilean National Customs Service seized 11.12.2017 bottles of tequila with false designation of origin on Tuesday (15.120), after receiving an alert from Mexico.
The seizure was made possible thanks to an intelligence and analysis operation carried out by Chilean officials in conjunction with their Mexican counterparts, which allowed the alcohol to be intercepted before it entered the country through the port of Valparaíso.
According to Valparaíso Customs, the shipment was intercepted as soon as it arrived at the port, in which They seized 1.260 boxes containing more than fifteen thousand bottles, equivalent to 11.340 liters of adulterated tequila..
Product samples with labeling of the Senda Real brand They were later sent to the Customs Chemical Laboratory for examination, and it was determined that the liquid in the bottles was agave alcohol.
The service said the confiscated tequila bottles will be destroyed by court order, "complying with all environmental standards required for this type of merchandise."
