-

AFIP, through Customs, tripled its operational capacity for the control of packages and envelopes arriving at the International Postal Center.

For the first time in its history, Customs has incorporated computed tomography equipment which allows the visualization of merchandise with 3D technology to know the content of shipments without having to open them.

This equipment, unlike scanners, performs automatic controls through artificial intelligence.l to automatically perform detections based on image training.

In addition to the CT scanner, two new dual-view scanners were acquired. which allows for tripling the number of scans per hour compared to the 2018 capacity.

The new equipment is similar to that used at airports in Europe and the United States, which improves automatic threat detection.

Dávila said that “with these changes we are simplifying the process of international postal shipments and, at the same time, improving the customs control system, thanks to the incorporation of new technology.”

It should be remembered that since the modification of the decree 1001 Published last Friday in the Official Gazette, users who use the Door to Door system will be able to carry out all procedures through the Argentine Post Office, without having to enter the AFIP website.
