Customs procedures for soybean exports

-

According to judicial sources, almost 400 tons of soybeans were seized in raids and procedures ordered by the Federal Court of Resistencia.

The investigative work carried out - through the DGI and Customs - managed to detect that the 71% of electronic waybills (CPA) destined for Misiones were cancelled.

Within the framework of the case instructed by the Federal Court of Resistencia in charge of Zunilda Niremperger and the Federal Prosecutor's Office in charge of Patricio Sabadini, simultaneous raids were carried out in the missionary towns of El Soberbio, May 2 and San Vicente with the intervention of the National Gendarmerie and the General Directorate of Customs,

The actions deployed allowed the 380 tons of soybeans seized, part of them packed inside warehouses in 50kg bags and the rest on the same means of transport that were headed towards towns located on the coast of the Uruguay River, on the border with Brazil.

The entry of large quantities of grains, especially soybeans, into the province of Misiones, a district that does not present, statistically and formally, large volumes of demand for the oilseed in question, leads to the presumption, with high levels of certainty, that it enters the customs territory to then be smuggled out to Brazil.

Illegal markets

"We have a clear decision from Customs to fight against this maneuver that generates significant damage to the national economy, thus enabling the development of informal and illegal markets that undoubtedly harm national industry and Argentine employment," explained the Director General of Customs, Guillaume Michel.

Likewise, the head of AFIP, Carlos Castagneto added: "These operations aim to combat direct damages committed against the treasury, such as the decrease in tax resources, tax evasion, and the growth of informality in all its aspects. In this case, we are talking about a final value that exceeds 23 million pesos.”

According to data provided by the AFIP, 46% of electronic waybills (CPE) issued during August-October to Misiones correspond to soybean shipments totaling 55.856 tons. Subsequently, 71% of these CPEs were cancelled.
