In order to promote economic recovery and development through trade facilitation, the progress and next steps in customs modernization and digital transformation were presented this Wednesday (19.11.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX) in Guatemala.
Such activity reflects the efforts made by the customs service within the framework of the joint public-private actions, reported the Superintendency of Tax Administration of Guatemala (SAT-G).
The state entity indicated that it was presented digital transformation project of the customs computer system, an initiative which will incorporate disruptive technologies and new platforms with a process management methodology that includes artificial intelligence, data mining, disruptive technologies and blockchain.
The authorities pointed out that the initiative to comprehensively modernize the customs and foreign trade service responds to the strategic perspective outlined in the SAT-G 2021-2025 institutional plan.
Among its particularities, such improvements will allow taxpayers to eliminate the use of paper, reduce time and costs, strengthen controls, as well as eliminate human discretion, among others.
Within the event, the agreement of the ““Public-Private Dialogue and Cooperation Table on Customs Issues”, a mechanism through which twenty-nine (29) entities seek to continue with the joint commitment to support control and facilitation, customs modernization and transparency efforts, also promote customs culture, promote ethics, integrity in order to eradicate practices that generate corruption.
The activity was chaired by the Minister of Public Finance and President of the Board of Directors of SAT-G, Edwin Martínez Cameros; the Vice Minister of Finance and Alternate President of the Board of Directors of SAT-G, Saúl Figueroa and the Directors of SAT, Adriana Estévez and Alejandro González Portocarrero; the Superintendent of Tax Administration, Marco Livio Díaz Reyes, the Superintendent of Customs, Werner Ovalle and the Executive Director of Combex Im, Jorge Gómez.
