Since October 2022, Martha Elba Garamendi Espinoza is the new Deputy National Superintendent of Customs (SUNAT) from Peru and leads the Regional Vice Presidency of the World Customs Organization (WCO) for the Americas and the Caribbean for the period 2022-2024, the Andean country's technical body reported.
Martha Garamendi has an extensive resume. She is a lawyer graduated from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, according to SUNAT. She also has master's degrees in Public Management from the Universidad Continental and in Accounting and Financial Sciences with a mention in taxation from the University of Piura (Peru).
He has specialized studies in International Business, Public Management and Development of Management Skills.
Garamendi is a customs officer with 28 years of experience at SUNAT, where he has held important management positions in legal, tax collection and customs technical areas in different regions of Peru.
She has also served as Customs Superintendent of Paita (Piura Department), participating in different dialogue and joint work tables with the private sector and other national and international government agencies.
In this context, Garamendi has also represented SUNAT in various national and international forums.
Martha Garamendi has been appointed to replace Marilú Llerena Aybar.
