Customs officers strike nationwide on Tuesday to demand urgent vaccination of staff

-

The Single Customs Personnel Union (Supara) led by CGT leader Carlos Sueiro called for a national strike of activities for the Tuesday (08.06.2021/10/17), between XNUMX a.m. and XNUMX p.m., in demand of «the urgent and immediate vaccination of staff«.

The national leadership of the union held on Thursday (04.06.2021/XNUMX/XNUMX) in a Press release The strike was called based on "the powers granted by the national plenary of delegates," and workers will therefore stop work throughout the country between 10 a.m. and 17 p.m. next Tuesday. He also announced that if "there are no concrete solutions to this problem, protests and union actions will intensify."

«Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the union has carried out numerous actions in the context of the Crisis Committee to preserve the health of workers. Since the arrival of the vaccines, theThe union continues to demand more and better measures to protect the health of the customs community", the press document stated.

The union organization reported that on May 17, and following the appropriate measures, Supara was summoned to a meeting by the authorities of the national body, who then confirmed "the decision of the Ministry of Health to include customs personnel in the vaccination plan."

This was an official commitment against Covid-19, considering the epidemiological criteria and addressing the critical functions of the operational areas. This agreement was recorded in a document signed in a timely manner," the union leadership stated.

The union then decided to suspend the protests that had already been called, but tonight it maintained that "the commitment made regarding the vaccination plan for customs officers was the objective of the claims and a significant step forward that was never implemented."

"So far, the only concrete action that has materialized was the inoculation of the workers of Uspallata, in Mendoza, so in the absence of substantial and sustained progress, Supara has ratified its concern on several occasions. The union considers it necessary to resume the strike measures that were then suspended," he said.

As1, Supara stressed that the health of customs officers was "seriously compromised and aggravated in recent days," and concluded by stating that "non-compliance with the agreements means an incomprehensible and inexplicable attitude and an intolerable disregard for all workers in the sector and for the very importance of the national body."
