-

Uruguay received this Friday (29.09.223) a donation from the World Customs Organization (WCO) of virtual reality equipment in order to improve the efficiency of inspectors in identifying prohibited articles, reported the National Customs Directorate.

«OMA's donation consists of an advanced virtual reality equipment, funded by Korean Customs. This equipment has been initially designed to facilitate the training of our customs officers in container inspection,” the Uruguayan administration said in a statement.

He explained that such equipment was delivered to the Customs of the neighboring country by the Director of Capacity Building of the WCO, Dr. Taeil Kang.

Meanwhile, the virtual training program that offers inspectors the opportunity to progressively improve their skills and knowledge about their roles and responsibilities in a virtual environment was provided by the expert trainer from the Republic of Korea.Mr. Baek.

Likewise, Cecilia Garrone, Agustin Curbelo and Juan Lastreto were the trained officials.

It should be noted that customs authorities are key players in international supply chains, so the more they leverage disruptive technologies to improve customs processes, the more they can have a significant impact on cross-border trade processes and supply chain operations.
