Dairy exports grew by more than 38% in 2018

-

The Secretariat of the Government of Agroindustry of the Nation reported that during 2018, dairy exports increased 38,2% in volume compared to 2017, growing from 243.500 tons to 334.400 tons.

Total value

Last year, products worth more than $1.008 billion were sold, which represents an increase of almost 30%, considering the 776 million dollars invoiced in 2017, according to data collected by the National Dairy Directorate.

In this regard, the Secretary of Government for Agroindustry, Luis Miguel Etchevehere, pointed out that "Exports are the path to an orderly dairy industry that has predictability. This growth is confirming that beyond the price or climate situation, milk has a public policy of transparency, order and market prominence."

Destinations

Sales abroad were channeled to 69 countries around the world, with the following countries standing out for their participation: Brazil, Algeria, China and Russia..

Products

Whole milk powder (40%), whey (18%), cheeses (17%), skimmed milk powder (7%) and infant formula milks (6%) are the main products marketed.

CHURCH

Growth is explained by a recovery in milk shipments at the national level, as shown by official records obtained through the Argentine Integrated Dairy Management System (SIGLeA): in 2018, production reached 10.527 billion liters of milk, which represented an increase of 4,3% in relation to the 10.097 billion produced in 2017. In this way, growth was consolidated both in production at a national level and in the share of exports in relation to the total produced, which increased from 16 to 22%.
