The Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP) enabled the benefit of zero export duties for service exporting firms that are covered by the Knowledge Economy Law, through the General Resolution 5013/2021.
According to the regulations, published this Thursday (24.06.2021) in the Official Gazette, companies that will be able to access the benefit are those that previously paid 5% in export duties.
The AFIP also implemented the procedure that companies must follow to access the use of surpluses paid to date.
The General Resolution operationalizes the benefit established in decree 1034/20, which provides for the reduction of the tax rate.
The export duty is set at 0% for services provided in the country, whose use or effective exploitation is carried out abroad, provided that they are carried out by those registered in the National Registry of Beneficiaries of the Knowledge Economy Promotion Regime.
The Knowledge Economy Promotion Regime, created by Law 27.506, aims to promote new technologies, generate added value, encourage quality employment, facilitate the development of SMEs and increase exports of companies dedicated to knowledge-based services.
The amendments to the law gave it a more progressive, equitable, federal and supportive character.
To access the zero export duty benefit, firms must be registered in the National Registry of Beneficiaries of the Knowledge Economy Promotion Regime (EDC Registry).
