The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) and the Customs Brokers Center (CDA) signed on Tuesday (13.06.2023) a “act of intent"which allows validation and access to customs offices.
The document was signed by the Deputy Director General of Legal and Customs Technique of the General Directorate of Customs, Liliana Alasia, and the President of the Customs Brokers Center, Gerardo Pardal.
The objective is to establish a Virtual accreditation mechanism at Customs for Customs Brokers, which will streamline access and “real-time” identification for foreign trade professionals.
"This procedure will allow us to know instantly whether the broker is authorized or not to operate and will allow more agile access to customs offices," Customs sources told Customs News.
The DGA and the CDA are collaborating through different initiatives. In particular, the same official source commented that this project was originally promoted by Dr. Osvaldo Aquieri, advisor to the Customs Brokers Center; Dr. Pablo Sebastián Borgna, Assistant to the General Subdirectorate of Customs Legal Technician, and Eng. Maximiliano Luengo, Director of the Directorate of Reengineering in Customs Processes, actively collaborated in making it a reality. Both officials were present at the event.
Thus, the DGA stated that the Customs Brokers' credential will generate a QR code that can be read with any phone, taking the information from the AFIP databases, and will inform if it is an active Customs Broker, allowing them to identify themselves and enter the Customs building more easily.
The initiative between the DGA and the CDA is a reflection of the commitment of both entities to trade facilitation.
