Ushuaia Customs detected a new batch of 200 video cards that arrived at the Customs Warehouse with the apparent intention of being released to the market, this time invoiced to a company based in that town dedicated to the sale of electrical materials and lighting.
Customs Agents, alerted by the recent complaint filed with the Federal Court of Río Grande, confirmed the arrival of fake video cards, invoiced by the same seller domiciled in the United States, of the same brand and price as those detected in Río Grande and that in reality they were simple models intended to carry out fraudulent maneuvers to improperly transfer foreign currency abroad and that if they had succeeded in their goal would have caused a loss of USD 356.000,00. The maneuver was thwarted by Customs Agents, proceeding to block the transport title and to expand the complaint duly made.
The importing firm simulated operations with a firm with apparent links and based in the US in order to introduce “technological garbage” al Special Customs Area, pretending that it was computer equipment, when in reality it was simply “empty boxes”, in an identical maneuver to the one reported a few days ago, on that occasion for a value of almost USD 1.500.000, much higher than the value of what was actually imported, which was around USD 30.000.
In this way, the organization once again prevented the improper outflow of dollars, since this was a new simulation aimed at obtaining cheap dollars to then transfer them abroad or to benefit from the so-called "financial loop" in a clearly speculative and illicit maneuver.
The Ushuaia Customs Office, the Patagonian Regional Customs Directorate and the Regional Investigations Division participated as a team. This Division was specifically involved in the investigation when it was observed that the logo on the packaging contained a legend of a company that is not declared as an intermediary in any document and is apparently based in Panama.
This is a company that offers HYPERFORCE brand video cards through the Internet, which is precisely the brand of the cards in question, among other brands; when analyzing the domain of that website, the data of a person who would be the president of the firm KMG Fueguina SA emerges.
Based on the above and if this is corroborated through judicial means, it could be stated that in addition to the simulation already reported, there would not be a commercial transaction configured as such, since we would be in the presence of people who sell themselves through the additional ruse of creating phantom companies in other latitudes where their incorporation is not difficult for them and who are organized only to commit this type of crime.
We continue to prevent and report the improper expenditure of foreign currency through this type of criminal activity, which is so detrimental to the nation's economy and harms all Argentines.
