The Central American Customs Committee, made up of the General Directors of Customs of the Region, held this Tuesday (01.12.2020) a meeting where the results of the coordinated work were known developed in the second half of 2020 during the Pro Tempore Presidency (PPT) of Nicaragua.
Official information from the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA) detailed the actions implemented by the technical groups of the Central American Customs Committee, specialized in risk management and technical regulations, among other matters, in order to facilitate the free circulation of goods and services.
Main results
- Results of the XIV Meeting of the Technical Group on Customs Risk Management.
- Results of the LXIII Joint Meeting of the Regulatory Technical Group and the Informatics Technical Group.
- Report of the Drafting Committee on the progress of the project to update the Central American Uniform Customs Code (CAUCA) and its Regulations, the Central American Uniform Customs Code (RECAUCA).
- Report on the workshop on the Study of Clearance Times, which will be held with the support of the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the Vice Presidency of the Americas and the Caribbean to strengthen cooperation relations in the area of good practices in customs management and trade facilitation.
At the end of the meeting, Costa Rica received the transfer of the executive direction of the bloc on behalf of Nicaragua, which will occupy from January 1 to June 30, 2021.
The Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA), in its capacity as technical and administrative body of the Central American Economic Integration Process, accompanied the PPT of Nicaragua during the last semester and will work with Costa Rica, which will be in charge of the Central American Customs Committee in the first months of 2021.
