Honduras opens special window for entry of donations from abroad

Humanitarian aid of all kinds from abroad to assist populations affected by the disasters caused by Hurricane Eta will be enabled Special windows at the different customs points in the country with tax exemption, reported the Honduran Customs Administration Service.

These donations can be delivered to Honduran Embassies or Consulates located in different countries. In this regard, "Aid or donations must be registered in the name of the Secretary of State in the Offices of Risk Management and National Contingencies", the official statement said.

It is important to clarify that the Permanent Commission on Contingencies (COPECO) will be responsible for processing the import clearance of merchandise donated from state to state, complying with the formalities established by law.

Furthermore, with regard to donations from individuals,  The official text states that “Non-profit organizations and registered churches They must process the corresponding exemption before the Ministry of Finance through the General Directorate of Customs Franchising Control, so that the donations enjoy tax benefits or tax exemptions at the time of importation.

The Honduran Customs, in its capacity as tax and customs authority, will continue to provide the necessary support to affected populations nationwide.
