The Trusted and Secure Economic Operator program, whose accreditation and certification is granted by a customs administration, continues to advance in Latin America. Today, the Superintendency of Tax Administration (SAT) of Guatemala and National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN) of Colombia they subscribed a Action Plan Mutual Recognition Agreement to promote the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program.
SAT explained that the “Mutual Recognition Agreement between both customs administrations will provide benefits related to the streamlining and facilitation of the clearance of goods and the reduction of verifications in order to facilitate and strengthen the logistics chain of international trade for operators authorized as AEO in both countries.”
The action plan was signed by the Guatemalan Customs Superintendent, Werner Ovalle, and the Director of the DIAN of Colombia, Lisandro Junco Rivera.
It should be noted that the initiative reflects the work of customs administrations to provide greater facilities and advantages to reliable operators, while at the same time contributing to secure trade chains for the benefit of the competitiveness of the country and the region.
