This week, the governments of Guatemala and Israel signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in Tel Aviv that will further strengthen their commercial and friendly relations, according to the Foreign Ministry of the Central American country.
The agreement was signed on Thursday (08.09.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX) by Guatemalan Foreign Minister Mario Búcaro and Israeli Economy Minister Orna Barbivai.
According to the statement, the Free Trade Agreement contains everything related to market access, rules of origin, customs procedures, trade facilitation, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, technical barriers to trade and trade defence, intellectual property, administration of the agreement, trade cooperation and customs cooperation and mutual assistance.
Guatemala granted Israel access to agricultural products such as tomato powder, peanuts, olive oil, rapeseed oil, chocolates, baked goods (matzah), prepared or preserved fruits and vegetables, almond paste, baking powders and wines.
While in industrial sectors there are petroleum derivatives, perfumery and hygiene preparations, adhesives, agrochemical inputs, rubber, leather and aluminum manufactures, diamonds and precious stones, agricultural instruments and laboratory equipment, among others.
For its part, Israel granted access to its market to Guatemalan agricultural products, beef, shrimp, flowers, fresh and frozen vegetables, frozen fruits, spices, soybean oil, sunflower oil, vegetable fats and oils, oil mixtures , confectionery, chocolates, bakery products, vegetable and fruit preparations including guacamole and ice cream.
