Government assigns import quotas for substances that impact the ozone layer

The Government proceeded to grant import quotas for substances that impact the ozone layer among seven companies, through the Resolution 366 / 2020.

The measure of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, published this Tuesday (13.10.2020) in the Official Gazette, redistributed the import quotas of substances that deplete the ozone layer among the following companies, according to the Annex that is an integral part of the regulation.

Awarded companies

Annex C Group I – R141b (HCFC-141b)

  • Rubber Chemistry SA 2,728 tn ODP
  • DPMG SA 1,21 tn ODP
  • Quimex Sudamericana SA 2,2 tn ODP
  • Ansal Refrigeration SA 0,604 tn ODP
  • PBBPolisur SRL (ex Dow Química SRL) 1,87 tn ODP
  • BASF Argentina SA 8,085 ODP tons

Annex C Group I – R123 (HCFC-123):

  • The Chemours SRL 0,4 tn ODP

The official text explained that such import quotas were granted in accordance with the provisions ratifying international agreements such as the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, as well as the Montreal Amendment, which includes the obligation to establish a Licensing System for the Import and Export of controlled substances to comply with the commitments assumed by the country in relation to their consumption.

The provisions of the new resolution will take effect on Wednesday, October 14, 2020.
