International experts in the field of Digital Economy from the Group of 20 (G20) made progress on Thursday (31.8.2018) on recommendations for inclusive development, within the framework of a two-day meeting taking place in the Argentine capital.
Extensive digital agenda
Within the framework of the second meeting of the Digital Economy Task Force (DETF), representatives of member countries and guests, as well as representatives of international organizations, are advancing a broad agenda linked to digital transformation, such as digital government, measurement of the era of digital economics., digital infrastructure, among other topics.
«We are building and strengthening a digital agenda focused on the inclusive development"said Rudi Borrmann, Undersecretary of Public Innovation and Open Government of the Ministry of Modernization of Argentina and chair of the task force, at the opening of sessions at the San Martín Palace, the ceremonial headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship.
Stakeholder discussions
The programme includes discussions on the multi-stakeholder model, measurements and statistics of the digital economy, digital government, reducing the digital gender gap, digital infrastructure and 4.0 industry.
In addition, participants will work on the Statement of the Ministerial Meeting on Digital Economy, which will take place in the province of Salta, in northwestern Argentina, on August 23 and 24.
The conclusions and the declaration will be presented to the G20 leaders who will meet in Buenos Aires at the end of November.
Creation of the DETF
«Created during the German presidency of the G20 2017, the DETF arises in recognition of a new era -digital- and the effective use of new technologies as a key factor for economic development," explained the G20 Technical Unit (UTG20) in a statement.
Based on the consensus reached and representing a young, diverse and creative region, the Argentine presidency of the task force will seek to make recommendations to achieve inclusive development through digital transformation, said UTG20.
