From 10 of the septiembre 13 of 2024Geneva, Switzerland, will be the setting for the Public Forum of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which this year will address the topic «Re-globalization: Better trade for a better world»The event will explore how re-globalization can make trade more inclusive, distributing its benefits more equitably among traditionally marginalized communities and sectors.
Among the program's notable participants, Chancellor of Argentina, Diana Mondino, will have a leading role. Mondino will speak at a Panel on agricultural trade, a topic of vital importance for developing countries that depend on their agricultural exports. In addition, as announced by the Argentine Foreign Ministry, Mondino will chair a special panel entitled “Renewable energy: the Argentine case”, where he will detail Argentina's progress in the transition towards clean and sustainable energy, highlighting the country's potential to lead in this area.
Since 1995, global trade has lifted 1.500 billion people out of extreme poverty, but income inequality and exclusion persist, leading to the need to rethink the trading system to make it more inclusive and sustainable. The Forum will therefore also discuss how to integrate new actors into multilateral trade, in order to foster resilience, prosperity and environmental sustainability.
This forum is undoubtedly a key opportunity to discuss the policies that will define the future of global trade at a time when the world economy is facing major challenges.
