China's exports and imports rise in June

-

China's foreign trade recorded a year-on-year growth of 5,1 percent in June, with an increase of 4,3 percent in exports and 6,2 percent in imports, according to official data published this Tuesday (14.07.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX)

China recorded better-than-expected foreign trade results in the first half of the year, Li Kuiwen, spokesman for the General Administration of Customs, said at a press conference.

However, the Foreign trade in goods fell by 3,2 percent year-on-year between January and June to 14,24 trillion yuan (about 2 trillion U.S. dollars), down 1,7 percentage points compared with the decline in the first five months.

Following the turmoil in the first quarter, imports and exports in the second quarter showed signs of recovery and stability, and exports have increased for three consecutive months, Li said.

From January to June, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) remained the largest partner China's trade output, up 5,6 percent year on year to 2,09 trillion yuan, accounting for 14,7 percent of the total.

During this same period, Trade with the European Union and the United States decreased 1,8 percent and 6,6 percent respectively, according to administration data.

Combined trade with countries along the Belt and Road saw a slight decline of 0,9 percent year on year to 4,2 trillion yuan in the first half of the year. However, the figure is 2,3 percentage points lower than the overall decline in the country's foreign trade.

Exports of epidemic prevention supplies grew rapidly, with sales of medicines and pharmaceutical products up 23,6 percent and exports of medical equipment up 46,4 percent.

After pointing out that China's exports and imports continue to face a grim situation and complicated in the second half of the year, Li said that the country's foreign trade is resilient and has greater room for maneuver.

The official said that they will be carried out more efforts to ensure stable and high-quality foreign trade.
