Exception to the electronic stability system

By Joint Resolution 1/2022 of the National Road Safety Agency and the Secretariat of Industry, Knowledge Economy and External Management, it has been determined to grant an exception for the Category N1 vehicles of the type known as Mini Trucks, with a chassis-cab structure and a displacement equal to or less than 1.500 cc, maximum power of up to 120 HP and maximum speed of 120 km/h, are required to have an Electronic Stability Control System (ESC) for marketing, until December 31, 2022 inclusive.

This measure is taken in accordance with the obligation established by Law 24.449, in which Article 8 establishes that every vehicle manufactured in the country or imported, in order to be released for public transit, must comply with the active and passive safety conditions, emission of pollutants and other requirements, in accordance with the features and specifications contained in the technical annexes of the regulations.

Due to presentations made by some importers, requesting the granting of a Exception to compliance with the requirement called Electronic Stability Control System (ESC) from January 1, 2022, for the utility vehicle models of category N1 of the type called Mini Truck, with a chassis-cab structure and a cylinder capacity equal to or less than 1.500 cc, maximum power of up to 120 HP and maximum speed of 120 km/h, imported and/or manufactured by them, the present Joint Resolution was carried out, whose The validity period will be from December 31, 2021 to the same date in 2022.
