Eriochem: Pharmaceutical quality for export with an Argentine seal

-

Eriochem is a company from Paraná that manufactures oncology products. It develops and produces generics, and performs chemical synthesis of pharmaceutical raw materials.

This company, with capital of Argentine origin, has been able to take advantage of Uruguay's flexible economic policy and clear rules of the game. That is why, in addition to its main headquarters in the Argentine province of Entre Ríos, its plant in Uruguay also has offices in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. It is a company in which Argentina represents 10% of its business.

Vertical integration, technology and the active search for markets are the three pillars of Eriochem, a multi-Latin SME that in twenty years has opened spaces in the markets of Asia and Latin America, firstly because health regulations were less complex, and in a second stage it has already managed to introduce its products in markets such as Europe, Canada and the United States, explained Antonio Bouzada, founder of the company.

Complex generics that make the difference

Eriochem's main product is a synthesis of AZT, which is converted at its Paraná plant into injectable oncology products that are exported to 40 countries. The focus of the innovative Argentine pharmaceutical company is complex generics, and it has managed to register two of its own patents in the United States in 2016 and 2017, which will give rise to several innovative products.

The case of Eriochem as a successful multi-Latin company was presented at the meeting: “Life Sciences: Business Opportunities in Uruguay.” In that country alone, the pharmaceutical company has invested 13 million dollars in a new plant that takes advantage of the opportunities offered by the tax incentives of the eastern country, according to Álvaro Brunini, Investment Promotion Manager of Uruguay, at the event in which Aduana News was present.

Brunini stressed that he considers the pharmaceutical sector to be very important for development, as it makes intensive use of “qualified talent, contributes to innovation, knowledge” and “helps to generate quality employment”, as Eriochem does with its complex products in the countries where it has a presence.
